We welcomed over 110 London Property Alliance members and stakeholders to the newly refurbished Friars Yard for our Southwark in focus seminar, supported by our NextGen champion Gardiner & Theobald.
Drawing on the findings of our Good Growth in Central London report, the seminar unpacked Southwark’s impressive development and investment, and the key ingredients for its success as a destination; community, culture and connectivity. Key insights included:
- The perfect formula of product, place and price is important in attracting occupiers and maintaining the diverse business ecosystem that is vital to the borough’s success.
- Previous plans to extend the Bakerloo line could have a transformational impact on the whole of Southwark and its key opportunity areas such as Old Kent Road.
- 5m sq ft of new space to accommodate the growing life science sector will be coming to Canada Water, with a particular focus on delivering “plug and play” modular buildings to retain incubator businesses in the borough.
Our speakers and panellists included:
- Emma Cariaga, Joint Head of Canada Water & Head of Residential, British Land
- Nic Durston, Chief Executive, South Bank Employers’ Group
- Ben Fisher, Managing Partner, USP.London
- Leila Gray, CPA NextGen Chair and Associate, Sheppard Robson
