The Government has announced plans to change the application of licensing laws, including giving the Mayor of London the opportunity to call in decisions.
In response to the announcement, Charles Begley, Chief Executive of London Property Alliance, said:
“Central London’s nightlife and cultural offer plays an important role in supporting the capital’s success, with the hospitality industry contributing to its vibrancy and global appeal, creating tens of thousands of jobs and acting as a significant driver of economic growth.
“The right of appeal and strategic oversight of licensing by the Mayor of London will provide a system which is transparent and accountable, giving businesses and cultural organisations the confidence they need to invest and grow in London.
“We will work constructively and in partnership with the Mayor, local councils and all parties on these proposals.”
