London Property Alliance has responded to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities’ consultation on the proposed Infrastructure Levy (IL).
In the response we maintain that the IL is ill suited to complex urban areas, expressing concern over key areas including:
- The use of GDV as a basis for the charge
- The system’s reliance on complex rates and thresholds
- The lack of clarity over whether commercial development would be expected to contribute towards affordable housing
